DESCRIPTION:Wine Tasting: Hinnant Family Vineyards: When we are little we all dream of living and playing in a land of wonder & magic! The Hinnant kids were no exception! Although their dream came true long after their childhood had come and gone. In 1971 Jacqueline (Jackie)\,  Freddie\, Douglas and Willard started making their dream world a reality. Who knew that this kingdom being built in eastern Johnston County would mean a lifetime of sweaty brows\, sunburned necks and purple fingers! In the early days the work was all done by hand. Mrs. Freddie remembers being on her knees planting grapes from morning until the full\moon was shining bright overhead! Freddie’s husband\, Glen\, had the honor of being the original knight of the Hinnant kingdom. He was the vineyard manager that watched over the vineyard while the others maintained their jobs as\, a teacher\, dentist\, book keeper and carpenter. Though they would always come back to the vineyard and see their creation\, this land of the great Muscadine! As the seasons change so does the path of life.    Product Tasting: Laura's Granola: Like so many great innovations\, Laura’s Gourmet Granola developed as a response to satisfy a need. Chef Laura believed a good granola should be healthy without compromising taste\, crunchy without scraping the mouth\, and chewy without hurting the teeth.                                  Live Music: Mattie DeLeon Trio:  "Singer\, Mattie Jet DeLeon and his Trio deliver a fresh and exciting musical assortment of Jazz\, R&B\, Soul\, and Pop that is certain to  make you smile\, tap your toes\, or even start to dance. Later\, he received his Bachelors degree in Music Composition from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music (now Shenandoah University) in Winchester Virginia with majors in classical piano and voice and minors in saxophone and jazz piano.

Building upon the original acreage growing close to 80 acres of grapes containing 14 main varieties: 9 fresh market and 5 wine varietals; Hinnant Family Vineyards & Winery is the oldest and largest commercial Muscadine vineyard in the state of North Carolina. The Hinnant Family has also become experts on another native grape from across our northern borderin Virginia; the Norton Grape takes up approximately 4 acres and is handcrafted to produce their driest\, most complexred\, offering oak\, vanilla and spice notes! DESCRIPTION:Please join us in celebrating the beginning of our desert growing season as "The Plant Whisperer" Bryan Jones of Sweet Garden Organics pays a visit to the Mill on Sunday\, October 16th from 11:00 - 1:00pm.  Bryan will be giving a demonstration about the "how to's" of gardening in the desert and answering any questions you may have about soil\, seeds and when to plant.    After the demonstrations\, he will then open the floor for a question and answer segment. Sweet Garden Organics Products and plants will be available for purchase so you can get started on your organic garden right away.        About Bryan :    Bryan Jones has been an organic gardener for over 40 years - long before "organic" was "in" - and has been growing strictly organically for over 15 years in the greenhouses of Sweet Corn Organic Nursery/Sweet Garden Organics. His philosophy centers around the idea that if you work with Mother Nature\, she will work with you and that the soil is a living thing\, and therefore we should only add naturally-occurring materials back into the soil and avoid all use of chemicals.    Sweet Corn Nursery had existed for 15 years\, and people drive for miles - even from neighboring states - to come buy plants and nursery products from him.    He has a wonderful way with people\, and an even more wonderful way with plants! One magazine up North (The Maverick) even referred to him as "The Plant Whisperer". Bryan has a unique ability to look at any plant and somehow knows what it needs.
