Judy’s family has been active in the area since the early 1920′s, eventually moving here from Mesa in the early 1940′s. As legend has it, Mrs. Mary Ellsworth refused to move to Queen Creek because there was no telephone service. To remedy this, Leo Ellsworth ran 28 miles of phone line to make the move happen.

Leo Ellsworth made his name nationally as a world class Farmer, and also as a land developer. At one point in his illustrious career, he made his way to Georgia and Florida to turn swamp land into feed pastures. He also found a way to get his farmed goods from Arizona to market on the East Coast… 3 weeks ahead of the competition.

Following her grandfathers commitment to excellence, Judy has developed a passion for everything she does, including crafting fine wines, which we proudly carry here at Queen Creek Olive Mill.

To see more about her wines, check them out at Western Wind Wines.

The Olive Mill is excited to welcome our new Chef !

Chef Carvalho and Perry Rea, Master Blender and owner of Queen Creek Olive Mill , crossed paths a few years ago while Carvalho was the Executive Chef at RnR in Scottsdale. Always feeling strong about using high quality local ingredients, Chef Carvalho used Queen Creek Olive Oil in his kitchen. Carvalho accepted the position at the Olive Mill with hopes of going back to his roots and cooking Italian cuisine, as well as working for a highly respected, local company.

Rea said, “Chef Carvalho is an amazing chef and we hired him with the goal to tak del Piero to the next level. Now that the Olive Mill is a destination for weddings and events, we need his expertise in catering and upscale dining. I can’t think of a bettter chef to head the del Piero Kitchen.”

Born and raised in Scottsdale, Carvalho started his culinary interest at a young age. Coming fron an Italian Portuguese family he learned many different authentic recipes. At age 14, Carvalho worked in his first high volume kitchen, Giordano’s Italian Cuisine and quickly moved to a line cook. By age 15, he was promoted to assistant chef.

Carvalho attended Arizona Culinary institute in Scottsdale and worked as an intern at Grayhawk Golf Club. He has also worked at such local restaurants as Wildfish Seafood Grille at the Scottsdale Waterfront, at which point he received an offer to become a Sous Chef at one of the top seafood restaurants in the valley, Maestro’s Ocean Club. As the Executive Sous Chef at Maestro’s, he managed roughly forty employees. During his career at Maestro’s, Carvalho successfully grew their catering business, gave private lessons, and appeared on television numerous times. (Including with Cory from Fox, pictured here).

All visitors are invited to experience the updated menu at the on-site Tuscan-inspired eatery del Piero, which serves breakfast, fresh gourmet sandwiches, panini, soups, salads, wine, and gelato. Enjoy the “Kalamata” sandwich featured recently on the Food Network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate, as well as many new menu items created by Chef Carvalho and other celebrated favorites. Dine indoors or outdoors under the olive trees with a stunning view of the nearby San Tan Mountains.

While in our gourmet marketplace, you can also shop for local and direct import wines and a variety of unique products made by other local artisans such as honey, assorted nuts, jellies, grilling rubs, coffee, and custom gift boxes, as esll as their own products, including their signature Tuscan Estate extra virgin olive oil, tapenades, and stuffed olives.

Queen Creek Olive Mill is located on teh corner of Combs Road and Rittenhouse Road in Queen Creek (For directons, please click here).
